Hello and welcome!
If you are here, that means you are interested in contributing to Rock Solid Stories and I am thrilled!
This series tells the stories of the statues that inhabit our cities and neighbourhoods, ones that you have stood in front of and seen with your own eyes.
There is no rule when it comes to what you write. It can be a short story, a diary entry, a poem, a dialogue, a joke, an historic recounting, a fantasy, a quote, a made-up interaction with a passer-by.
Should there be more than one statue in the setting, feel free to explore what they are each looking at. Their stories can be combined in one or it can be a story for each of them. That’s entirely up to you!
There is also no word limit. There is no story too short or too long.
But there is an aim:
Each entry must answer the question what are statues looking at?
What they are actually looking at is entirely up to you. It can be a depiction of the setting they are in, a reflection of something actually taking place, a conversation. It can describe feelings and emotions and venture into their thoughts. We are bringing them to life. Look them in the eyes and then look at what they are looking at. What is he or she telling you? What story is the setting conjuring? What sculpted this statue? This moment? Or who?
For more, please read about the background and central idea to this project.
A story is released once a week and is open to any and all who care to take part.
This is your invitation to open your imaginations and become a sculptor of words.
